Connecting with the next generation of internet

Satelliteinternet.com is a leading internet comparison website focused on helping customers in rural areas find the best ways to connect to the internet. In 2020, our team took over responsibility for its development, and I began to re-design the brand identity, successfully pitching a new brand direction and style, creating a new web palette and type styles, and directing the design of a new logo.

Vision

With the launch of Starlink Internet as a new type of option in the satellite internet space—interest in satellite internet skyrocketed. To capitalize on this growth, I set out to revamp one of our legacy sites to help customers compare internet options for the traditionally less connected areas of the country.

Process

I developed a mood board and pitched leadership an idea to modernize the site and help connect the brand's visual identity with the new exciting technologies developing in the space.

One of the more substantial considerations and crucial pieces of the identity was embracing the juxtaposition of the advanced, out-of-this-world nature of the technology and the most rural and isolated places on earth where the technology is primarily used.

The lead illustrator on the project and I worked to refine the identity they created, until the team felt like we had landed on a winning design. Along with a new logo, we worked to create an icon set and craft the brand messaging that would help steer and vision and mission of the site.

Summary

The outcome of this effort led to a brand and website that was ready to capitalize on the spotlight shined on this new space race and gave structure to an identity that could continue to develop and grow for the years to come.
